Book review - It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

"It Ends With Us" by Colleen Hoover is filled with so many emotions and I could not stop reading it. Everything about it is so perfect. So raw, powerful and it contains trigger warning for domestic abuse which will throw your emotions on exploring love, loss and abuse. Initially, I didn't expect too much from this book but halfway through it I was surprised by the darkness and how Lily goes through trauma and abuse with deep passion of love with Atlas.

Lily Bloom's life wasn't that easy but that never stopped her from doing what she wanted in life. She had an abusive family with problems but then she met Atlas in her neighbourhood and he was homeless. Lily helped Atlas by giving him food and clothes. Gradually, they both became close. As days passed by they fell in love with eachother. But one day, Atlas decides to move to Boston where his uncle lives. It was a difficult situation for both of them to be apart. Years passed by but she didn't hear from Atlas.

She came a long way from a small town and moved to Boston, where she started her own business. There she meets an attractive neurosurgeon Ryle. He is brilliant and bright and they were passionate about their love. Lily finally felt she was in the right direction. Later on, many such circumstances occurred between Lily and Ryle which made Lily confused and overwhelmed with doubts.

At this time, Lily was constantly remembering about her first love Atlas. One fine day, accidentally Lily met Atlas in his restaurant while she came for dinner with her mom and Ryle. Now, the relationship between Lily and Ryle is on the verge. Who will it be? Ryle or Atlas?

Soon, Lily and Ryle took divorce and she was pregnant at that time. It was then, when Atlas took care of Lily.

Although my heart breaks a little for both Ryle and Atlas. I do not know if I liked the ending but I can never get over this book. My heart was curious every time I turned the page.
I love Lily for her bravery and how strong she is. Personally, I recommend giving this book a read, you will fall in love with how the author 'Colleen Hoover" has given justice to the characters.

Here are some of my favourite quotes from the book:

"There is no such thing as bad people. We're all just people who sometimes do bad things."

"Not a lot of people have the courage to say what they're actually thinking."

"You're only human. And as humans, we can't expect to shoulder all of our pain."

“Life is a funny thing. We only get so many years to live it, so we have to do everything we can to make sure those years are as full as they can be. We shouldn't waste time on things that might happen someday, or maybe even never.”
